based on Czeslaw Milosz The Williamstheatre has offered a new performance inspired by the poetry of Nobel Laureate Czeslaw Milosz. The production joins a myriad of international events in a year‑long celebration of the hundredth anniversary of the birth of this remarkable poet.
Here in the United States at Williams College, acting students took part in theatrical presentation entitled: “Inspired by Milosz.” Directed by an accomplished theatre artist, professor Omar Sangare, students worked for over a month on selecting poems and creating individual compilations based on Milosz’s poetry. The thirty-eight acting students concluded their studies by performing to a full house. The show was attended by theatergoers, Williams community and two special guests: Consul General of the Republic of Poland Ewa Junczyk-Ziomecka and Deputy Consul General Przemyslaw Balcerzyk. The production was accompanied by classical music by Frederic Chopin and contemporary composition by Joanna Gabler. Both audience and performers explored the elegance, sophistication, and thoughtfulness of Czeslaw Milosz’s poetry through a dramatically compelling range of interpretations.
